An Introduction to Scaling Agile
How we developed a course from the mountains in Thailand
Challenge
Gladwell Academy asked us to create an online training to introduce the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to their customers. The training would be used as a mandatory preparation before learners would attend the live training at Gladwell’s office. In addition to the online training, we needed to create an online platform to host this course and future courses of the company.
Development
At the time of development, our company was still small and our founder (Marc Rodan) was temporarily working abroad. As such, almost the entire development of this e-learning was done from Chiang Mai in Thailand by just one person. We only used one small handheld camera to record the videos and we set up a third-party platform (Thinkific) for hosting the course once it was finished.
Solution
We delivered 21 lessons with 8 unique videos, supplemented with several audio lessons and knowledge checks. In the training, Marc takes on the role of an Agile Magician to explain the basics of SAFe in a simple way, often supported by drawings he made in his notebook. The training was a big success. At the time of writing it has already been used for over 7 years with minor updates.

Let’s make mental lemonade!
We turn expertise into online learning-experiences that feel fresh, unique and engaging. We use the latest teaching techniques and technologies and cater to any budget.
Only the start!
This project was the official start of Mental Lemonade (previously called Ninjafy). We are grateful for the trust Gladwell Academy had in us to develop a very different, more engaging way of learning online. In particular, want to thank Abram Janse and Niels den Daas. For a sense of nostalgia, you can view the course for free here. For the kind of courses we can create today, get in touch for a personalized demo!
